Winnie The Pooh Day was created to honor the designer of the character, A. A. Milne. Milne first wrote about Winnie the Pooh in 1926. The observance occurs every year on January 18th.
I always loved reading Winnie the Pooh stories to my children. The stories and illustrations are simple and beautiful. The underlying theme of community and kindness (regardless of how irritating some of the characters are to each other) is a wonderful example. I my pick up my book off the bookshelf today and take in some A.A. Milne.
