What is your favorite time of year? Why?
My favorite time of year is fall. I have lived in the South most of my life, and the first crisp, cool days of fall are a welcome relief from the dog days of summer. The red, gold, and orange colors of changing leaves is one of the most beautiful sights to see each year, and it is a brief time in the South. Fall is also the kick-off of our family’s holiday season of traditions, starting with a visit to the pumpkin patch in late October, then enjoying the Thanksgiving gathering and feast in November, and cutting our own tree and celebrating Christmas in December.
The first cool days of fall is a cue for me to note the year is coming to a close – and soon. I use this as a prompt that it is time to assess where I am on my yearly goals. If I need to kick it into high gear to achieve the goal, I have October, November, and December to do that. If I’m almost there or the goal has been achieved, I can enjoy the sense of accomplishment that I’m doing/have done what was needed.
Fall is a beautiful, meaningful time of year for me. What is your favorite time of year (and why)?
