Coaching Question of the Week

I love this coaching question! When I read suggestions from the experts, they all say something about getting sunshine by taking a walk outside first thing in the morning. I don’t know where they live or when they wake up, but – here in Georgia – it is pitch black outside until almost 7am. I could take a walk by 10am at the office! We have a nice walking path that creates a mile-long track. I want to think about how I can make time for that on the weekdays!

Monday Motivational Quote

This quote captured my imagination, and I could feel how important it is when I first read it. Yesterday, I was reading an article from HBR written by Dr. Linda Hill entitled “Becoming the Boss.” She talked about that transformational experience we all have the first time we become an official supervisor at work and the myths most of us believe as we enter the experience. She specifically called out that most of us focus on building the one-on-one relationships we think will help motivate the people on the team rather than starting with motivating the group toward a common desired outcome. It’s an interesting read, and here’s a link: https://hbr.org/2007/01/becoming-the-boss

Thankful Thursday

You’ll see a gratitude post on Thursdays in this group because every wellness or resilience model I’ve found shows gratitude to be an important part of feeling good. What does is a gratitude practice? It can be anything from thinking about people or things you appreciate as you drink a cup of coffee to writing down things you’re thankful for in a journal. You can search on “gratitude” and find lots of resources and suggestions. You can practice in the comments below this post – what’s something (or who is someone) you’re genuinely thankful for today?
